Antony Melville BA (Cantab), MSc
Antony has focused for the last 4 years on the problems of energy use in older houses, after 25 years in book publishing, where he was International Sales Director at Dorling Kindersley.

He firmly believes in the value of local networks and is committed to local, carefully tailored solutions delivered by social enterprise; he is a co-founder of the Highbury Transition group.

He is committed to the vision of Victorian housing stock transformed for a low carbon future, and developed the idea of VICTERI with Norman Beddington.

  • Brings his experience of the analysis and development of new markets to the creation of an effective advice service for homeowners in Victorian terraces
  • Has insulated his own Victorian house, and been a client for a low-energy new build house
  • Completed the MSc in Environmental Technology at Imperial College In 2006-7, with a dissertation on the problems associated with solid wall insulation of Victorian Housing Stock
  • Further training in eco refurbishment techniques has been gained at the Centre for Alternative Technology and at BRE



antony

Norman Beddington BA MSc  Diploma in Management Studies
Norman has worked in the environmental consulting sector for twenty-one years. During most of this time he has also been very active in the voluntary environmental movement, founding a doorstep recycling collection service among other initiatives.

In 1994 he completed the MSc course in Advanced Energy and Environment Studies at the University of East London.

He is passionately interested in the concepts of locally-based retrofitting networks and individual energy generation by home-owners.

  • Co-renovation of his own house with the aim of reducing CO2 by 50% - a 2nd phase designed to achieve a 60% reduction is planned for 2012
  • Good knowledge of energy management and use and energy efficiency measures
  • Expertise in the specification and use of recycled and sustainable materials
  • Knowledge of the European experience of eco-renovation and innovative solutions  arising from this
  • Understanding of renewable energy issues and their practical application

Steve Bentley BSc, MSc
Steve has worked in the environmental and building sectors for over twenty years. For several years he was the Deputy Director for Waste Watch the national charity which promotes the three ‘R’s
 
He is particularly interested in sustainable and financially sound approaches to improving older buildings whilst preserving their character.

  • Hands on property refurbishment experience with a broad range of practical building skills
  • Project management of residential property refurbishment projects
  • Keen interest and practical knowledge of eco renovation
  • Significant project management experience in the recycling of waste materials sector
  • Understanding and interest in resource use issues and role of recycled material
