victeri - helping make your victorian terrace house more energy efficient

ADVICE ON SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

   victeri can advise on:

  • the use and sourcing of sustainable and recycled materials for energy-efficiency projects, and also for general building projects
  • embodied energy and environmental impact of building materials
  • recycled alternatives to conventional materials
  • waste minimisation and disposal - VICTERI can advise on contractors which recycle a high proportion of waste transported from sites

Some examples of sustainable materials :

  • loft insulation made from 40% - 80% recycled material
  • plywood, MDF, skirting boards made from certificated timber
  • wall tiles with 30% recycled content
  • kitchen surfaces and decorative panels made from recycled plastics
  • wall insulation made from compressed hemp blocks

fscWhy make use of them?
Using recycled and sustainable materials saves energy, reduces use of materials with toxic content, cuts the use of scarce landfill sites and helps grow the market for products with recycled content. .

Do sustainable materials cost extra?
It depends on the material. Many bulk materials such as plasterboard, timber and board products and glass-fibre loft insulation cost no more than their non-recycled competitors; however more specialist products currently produced in limited runs, such as decorative plastic surfaces, are likely to cost more.

How VICTERI can advise you:
We can provide you with a sustainable materials selection for your project, and advise on waste recycling.
