We Believe

• That living in our old houses should not mean being deprived of the benefits of modern insulation
  
• That Britain’s Victorian housing stock should not make us the laggards of Europe in reducing our carbon emissions
  
• That our older properties should not be condemned to freeze in times of fuel scarcity,
  
• And that the best way to get our houses insulated is to pool our resources and resourcefulness, and flex the joint buying power of 3.7 million owners of Victorian properties, starting one street at a time.

We believe in avoiding damage to the planet, and helping others to do the same, as ‘the price of sticking to our present system of values is intolerably high’ (Sir Crispin Tickell 2004). If the planet is to continue giving life to our species, we must look after the planet’s health.

Our Practice

• We work locally, identifying local suppliers and travelling largely by bicycle and public transport
• We minimise the use of materials, and reuse and recycle where possible.
• We work to share and disseminate knowledge of energy efficiency and sustainability among homeowners and building professionals.
